lesions

The eyelids and face, just like any skin on the rest of the body, can develop both benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (pre-cancerous or cancerous) lesions.  These lesions may grow in response to sun exposure, age, hormone changes, as well as infections or gland dysfunction.  Careful examination of any new growth by a trained specialist will help determine if a sample should be sent to pathology for further testing, or if the lesion can be monitored for changes over time.  Most often, benign lesions can be easily removed as an in-office cosmetic procedure, whereas malignant lesions may require a more in-depth treatment plan.
